Who are we?




We are a registered charity who support children and adults with disabilities through play.
Library Timeline
 
2006 Originally set up as a Community Group, by volunteers, based in Brynmelyn Community Centre.
2009 Became a fully registered Charity.
2010 Moved premises, to The Play Resource Centre, Llansamlet and started to run Stay and Play sessions for the first time.  Our website was also set up this year.
2011 Moved premises, to the Family Centre in Old Cwm School, Bonymaen.
2012 Joined Facebook to engage more with our members and the larger community.
2013 Incorporation of the Charity, resulting in a change of charity number, but a continuation of the same great service.
2014 Moved to The Mary Cave Centre in Manselton, with an additional service launched at Hafan y Môr, the new Swansea Childrens Development Centre.  Gained a presence on Twitter.
2015 Launch of our new website.
2016 Moved to Forge Fach Community Resource Centre in Clydach and celebrated our 10th Anniversary with a Charity Ball at The Swansea Marriott.

Who is our Patron?
Dean Thomas
ITV Wales

Dean was born in Swansea and grew up in Bonymaen.  He studied at Swansea University before finishing his media degree in Bristol.

Dean has worked as a journalist for Swansea Sound, BBC and ITV and over the past decade has travelled all over the world covering major events. 

He said "I was asked to become patron of The Play and Leisure Opportunity Library last year and I am proud to be associated with this wonderful charity and the amazing service it provides to adults, parents and children in the community".

 
Who manages the service?
The charity is managed by a small, dedicated group of Directors, who volunteer their time to manage and support this service.  The Directors are:

Deborah Lawrence (Treasurer) and Angie Allen (Secretary)
